Wedding Highlights

Tucked away in the Southern Highlands, just under a 2 hour drive from Sydney, is the beautiful town of Robertson – home of the Great Australian Potato Race. Oh, and do you remember the movie Babe the Pig? Yup, it was filmed here in Robertson.

Fun facts aside, Robertson is also home to the aptly named Robertson Hotel, one of the Southern Highland’s most popular wedding venues. Back in 1925, just 1 year after being built, it was awarded the Most luxurious hotel in the Commonwealth.

While Robertson is known for it’s higher than average annual rainfall, Adrienna and Tim enjoyed a beautiful and quite a hot Autumn day for their early March wedding. Tim and his Groomsmen had a blast in their television show renovated room while Adrienna and her Bridesmaids celebrated in a stunning natural light-filled room.

These are some of the highlights from their amazing wedding day.

If you’re considering The Robertson Hotel for your magical wedding day, I wanted to share a few tips, some advice and a little more detail about this gorgeous venue.

Wedding Size & Guest Capacity

Ceremony Capacity: 200
Outdoor Reception: 200
Indoor Reception: 130
Accommodation: 100

With how hidden the hotel is behind the majestic trees at the front of the property, a glance from the road while passing by might give you the impression that the property may only cater for small wedding sizes. But upon driving through the elegant front gate, past the covering trees and up around the drive away, you’ll be greeted with a giant front lawn and beautiful greenery that’s detailed with eye-catching stone features.

This front lawn is where you’ll have the option of sharing your vows, saying “I Do” and sealing it all with a magical kiss, right in front of the stone water feature. This area is spacious enough to cater for ceremonies of up to 200 guests, but fills out beautifully to still feel close and intimate even with the smallest of guest numbers.

Moving on to the reception and you’ve got the option of an outdoor or indoor setting, with enough room for 200 and 130 guests respectively.

And to make this truly a destination wedding venue, the hotel has a range of rooms and suites that can accommodate up to 100 people.

Wedding Portrait Photography Locations

The Robertson Hotel is set amongst over 14 acres of beautiful gardens and almost forest like fields of trees. In other words, 14 acres of gorgeous portrait locations. Even the grassy and rocky front parking section offers a variety of pretty cool spots for those intimate shots. There are gardens, giant trees, an old train station and beautiful forest-like tracks to use.

If indoor photos are more your thing, the downstairs tea room with majestic arm chairs and beautiful wooden features make for the perfect spot to get a beautiful editorial shot. Additionally, the upper floor rooms overlooking the front gardens offer a flood of stunning natural light.

And if you’re up for an adventure, and a little hike in between your ceremony and reception, the Belmore Falls is only a 15 minute drive from The Robertson Hotel.

Getting Married At The Robertson Hotel

Overall, The Robertson Hotel is such a beautiful wedding venue. If you want the “destination vibe” in that it can accommodate your guests, while still being close to town, and relatively close to Sydney, then The Robertson Hotel is a great option.

And with multiple ceremony and reception spaces, plus so many photography spots, it’ll still allow you to plan and have the wedding of your dreams.
